Max runs into his own imagination to escape from his troubled life. He then pretends to be king and messes up the lives of everyone he's met. Then he leaves his imaginary world, at nearly the same level of resolution that existed before he even entered it (with arguably less resolution due to the fact that some characters are now missing limbs) and then returns to his own troubled life again.

I mean, a kid who can't even get things right in his own imagination... how downer is that?

If you're a Radiohead fan, then you'll love this movie. It's a depressing message packaged with beautiful imagery and an eargasm inducing soundtrack. The characters were seamlessly done and the acting is very enjoyable, but the narrative takeaway from this movie is a big ball of depressing.

Re: Review: WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

Wow.
